The Danger of Tennessee On and Off Ramps

Both the many on-ramps and off-ramps in Tennessee are dangerous for motorists due to lane changes. One of the biggest challenges associated with on-ramps is the need to both keep up with the flow of traffic and merge. The biggest danger associated with off-ramps is that vehicles must suddenly slow down when exiting the road.

Advice for Motorist When Handling Ramps

Some safety strategies that Tennessee motorists can employ while maneuvering either on-ramps or off-ramps include:

  • Be prepared as soon as possible to face a new flow of traffic or a traffic control device.
  • Remain aware of the posted speed limit and any other posted warning signs.
  • If you’re exiting a freeway, do not assume your vehicle is going at a low enough rate of speed. Instead, keep an active eye on your vehicle’s speedometer.
