Walden, TN (November 2, 2020) The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reports that a minor school bus crash occurred on November 2nd on Signal Mountain. While it has not yet been identified which school the bus belonged to, details have confirmed that the bus had 19 students on board. Fortunately, none of the students were injured in the crash. A preliminary law enforcement report revealed that a vehicle and a bus were taking a sharp curve on Timesville Road when they collided. The contact between the two was “minor”.

School Transportation News collected data about school bus crashes from August 1, 2019 to June 30, 2019 and found that 1,365 bus crashes occurred resulting in at least 2,551 injuries to both school bus passengers as well as motorists in passenger vehicles. School bus accidents are commonly divided into three separate categories: those involving other motorists, those accidents involving pedestrians, and crashes in which school bus occupants are injured. Unfortunately, many school bus accidents are unavoidable, but drivers should remember to proceed with caution when driving around school buses and pedestrians should remember to always walk, run, or cycle a safe distance from buses.
