How to Respond After a Single Vehicle Car Accident

If you’ve been involved in a single vehicle accident, you might not have to exchange information with another person or tell law enforcement your version of how the accident occurred. It still helps, however, to follow some important safety precautions, which include:

  • Examine your own injuries. If you are seriously injured or not sure, do not hesitate to contact 911.
  • Determine the safety of your vehicle’s location. If your vehicle is not totally out of the path of traffic, either move the vehicle or get out of the car and walk to safety.
  • Remember to turn on the vehicle’s hazard lights.
  • Take photos of the accident scene if you have a phone to do so and write down details about how the accident occurred so you don’t forget them.
