Knoxville Parents Bring Personal Injury Lawsuit after Child Injured in “Bounce House” – Find Out How You Can Get Justice Against the Negligent Parties that Injured You and Your Loved Ones in Knoxville

BouncyHouse

A pair of Knoxville County parents has brought a lawsuit against a business association and a party rental company after they allege their daughter was seriously injured at a community function last August, 2024. According to local news reports, Knoxville parents Eric and Kristyn Parker filed a lawsuit in court to recover money compensation under Tennessee personal injury laws after they allege that their 7-year-old daughter was injured in a bouncy house that was filled with foam. The bouncy house was featured at a community gathering last summer, on August 17, at the Powell Station Celebration, which was put on by the Powell Business and Professional Association at Powell Station Park. The couple alleges that on that fateful day back in August, “So much foam filled the bounce house that day that children got lost in it, the parents allege. No attendant was on duty to watch over it….” Eric Parker alleges that “He could hear but not locate his child crying for help. He finally found her outside the attraction getting help from several women. Her lips and skin had turned blue from lack of oxygen.” The women were reported to have performed CPR on the child, and she was revived. However, the young girl was “kept in the hospital overnight for observation and suffered pain in her eyes from exposure to the foam chemicals. She also vomited for several days after ingesting foam….” The lawsuit, accordingly, states that the young girl “suffered injuries to her face from being trampled by others in the bounce house ‘as she struggled helplessly underneath the foam.’”

In addition to the 7-year-old girl, a 4-year-old child was also reported to have been injured in the foam-filled bounce house. The parents of the 7-year-old girl allege in their lawsuit that “The defendants were negligent in failing to take steps to ensure users were safe inside the bounce house,” and they seek punitive damages in the case. The case is ongoing, and it remains to be seen whether either of the defendants will be held liable for the young girl’s injuries.
