Car Crash Occurs in Crossville

shutterstock_1132634303

A car accident was reported the afternoon of September 30th on Interstate 40 East at the 320 mile marker (Genesis Road). As a result, motorists were advised to take caution while traveling through the area. Additional details about the accident including whether anyone was injured and what caused the accident are still pending.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that more than 32,000 people are killed and a staggering 2 millions individuals each year are injured as a result of car accidents that occur in the United States. This equates to on average, 5,479 individuals in the United States getting injured in car accidents each day or a car accident injury every 3 to 4 minutes. While car accidents can occur for various reasons, some of the most common causes of crashes include following too closely, speeding, distracted driving, unsafe lane changes, and intoxicated driving. While it’s not possible to avoid all potential car accidents, you can greatly reduce your chances of being seriously injured in a crash by wearing a seat belt, never driving while distracted, not combining alcohol and drugs with motor vehicle operation, and obeying all posted traffic regulations including the speed limit.
