One Person Killed After Vehicle Enters Lane of Oncoming Traffic in Knoxville

Knoxville, TN (February 1, 2021) One person was killed after a multiple-vehicle crash that occurred in Knoxville early on the morning of February 1st. According to the preliminary report provided by Knoxville law enforcement, a vehicle traveling westbound on West Avenue entered the eastbound lane of traffic and subsequently collided with two vehicles.

The driver of one of the westbound vehicles was killed in the crash. The two people who were occupants of the eastbound vehicles reported no injuries. A further investigation into what caused the crash is still being performed.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security has found that 57 people were killed in crashes that occurred in 2020 in Knox County in 2020. Some of the most common reasons why accidents that result in fatalities occur include medical emergencies, drunk driving, police chases, distracted driving, and drivers who fall asleep at the wheel.
