Philadelphia, TN (November 27, 2020) Loudoun County law enforcement responded to an accident that occurred on the evening of November 27th in the Philadelphia area of Tennessee. Due to the crash, lanes of Interstate 75 at mile marker 68 were temporarily closed but have since reopened.

The accident occurred when a farm tractor that was being pulled by a trailer overturned. It remains uncertain what caused the rollover and whether anyone was injured or killed in the accident.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found that rollovers have a greater fatality rate than all other types of accidents. In 2010, rollovers represented only 2.1% of motor vehicle crashes but 35% of all vehicle fatalities.

A large number of rollovers are caused by driver error, which might include inattentiveness or fatigue. A large number of rollover accidents also include vehicles that have some type of impaired condition like defective brakes. Additionally, load size plays a role in many rollovers. Among many complexities, the weight of a vehicle can be disrupted by heavy loads that shift during movement.
