Crews Work to Restore Power After Knoxville Crash

Knoxville, TN (January 6, 2021) Officials with the Knoxville Utilities Board said that crews are working to restore power to residents after a crash occurred on the morning of January 6th. The official report that as a result of the accident, approximately 80 customers in the area were left without power. The crash is reported to have involved a single vehicle that collided with a utility pole on Emory Road close to Pedigo Road. No estimated time has been given for when the power will be restored.

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety has found that approximately 20 percent of motor vehicle crash fatalities occur when a vehicle leaves the road and strikes a fixed object located along the road. Some of the most commonly struck objects include trees, traffic barriers, and utility poles. Further complicating matters is that countless utility poles in the state are in disrepair and fall over easily when struck by motorists, presenting deadly complications. Unlike other stationary objects, utility poles present the object of electrocution to motorists.
