Woman Killed in Del Rio Single Vehicle Crash

shutterstock_1132634303

Del Rio, TN (October 29, 2020) A woman in Del Rio was killed in a single vehicle accident on East Highway 25 / 70 in Del Rio on October 29th. After arriving at the scene, the Tennessee Highway Patrol discovered that a motorist was traveling east when she tried to negotiate a curve and crossed into the westbound side. The driver then crashed her Chevrolet Silverado into a large boulder. On colliding with the boulder, the driver came back onto the road before traveling off the eastbound side and down an embankment. The collision caused the driver to be ejected from the vehicle and she was later pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time that the accident occurred.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found that curved roads are more likely to be the scene of off road accidents than straight roads. Among the accidents that occur on curved roads, 90.2 percent of these accidents involved vehicles that left the road. When vehicles leave the road, it is common to end up in a collision with stationary objects like utility poles, signs, trees, and even boulders.
