Putnam County, TN (November 18, 2020) A car crash on Highway 111 occurred in Putnam County on the morning of November 18th that resulted in multiple injuries. Law enforcement reports that the driver of a Dodge was broken down in the left lane of the Highway. When the driver got out of the vehicle and was working on it, he was struck in the rear by an oncoming Chevy Blazer. Both drivers were transported to a nearby trauma center by medical helicopter. Three passengers in the Dodge were also transported to a medical center for care.

The AAA Organization reports that it rescued 32 million drivers in 2015. Unfortunately, many of these broken down vehicles ended up in accidents that resulted in injuries or fatalities. To avoid ending up struck by a vehicle or involved in a car crash, it is important to follow some important safety precautions if your vehicle breaks down on the road. Some of the steps that you should take if your vehicle breaks down include steering as far out of travel lanes as possible, exiting the vehicle away from traffic, and calling attention to both yourself and your vehicle in any way possible to inform passing motorists of the risk.
