2 killed and 1 injured by I-24 crash in Tennessee

At just after 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 29, a semi-truck crashed into the back of a stalled or stopped car on Interstate 24 near La Vergne around mile marker 63. The 23-year-old Murfreesboro driver of the car died in the crash, and her 22-year-old passenger died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Oct. 1.

The 29-year-old driver of the semi-truck was not injured. A 25-year-old motorcycle rider traveling on the Interstate attempted to dodge debris from the crash when he flew off his motorcycle and suffered some injury.

Tennessee Highway Patrol shut down the Interstate for hours while a crew cleaned up the debris. They have issued no charges in relation to this accident.

In a fatal car accident such as this, the relatives of the deceased may be able to receive monetary compensation for their loss. Tin order to claim compensation, they might file a wrongful death lawsuit against the allegedly at-fault driver in the accident, and they could request compensation for funeral expenses, property damage, and loss of income and financial support.

After every accident, investigators attempt to determine which driver is at fault. If the at-fault driver died because of the accident, the individuals who were negatively affected by the incident may be able to file a lawsuit against that person’s insurance carrier or estate. Those who are interested it pursuing such actions might work with a personal injury attorney. That attorney may be able to analyze the available evidence associated with the case and might develop a strategy for seeking compensation. In addition, that attorney could help a client estimate the amount of damages that may be sought through the lawsuit.
