Worker Seriously Injured After Fall in Crossville

Crossville, TN (November 10, 2020) Emergency workers in Crossville responded to the Crossings Shopping Center by North Main Street late on the morning of November 10th after a worker fell inside a business while performing construction. Early reports about the accident reveal that the worker incurred serious injuries in the fall. A helicopter landed near the accident scene to transport the patient to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Additional details about the accident including how the fall occurred and the identity of the injured individual have not yet been revealed.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found that one of every five falls results in a serious life-changing injury like broken bones or a traumatic brain injury. Some of the most common reasons why falls occur at construction sites include slippery or wet floors, unstable or uneven walkways, improperly lit stairs, stairs that are missing guardrails, and improperly or hastily assembled scaffoldings that collapse on workers. One of the best ways for workers to avoid ending up in one of these accidents is to always proceed slowly. It is also a good idea to make sure to always wear appropriate footwear when walking in construction areas.
