Vehicle Overturns in Overton

Overton, TN (January 4, 2021) A vehicle is reported to have overturned on January 4th at Turkey Creek in Overton. While the accident was first reported around 9 a.m., additional details about the crash remain uncertain including whether anyone was injured or killed, what caused the crash, and the extent of the property damage involved.

The Insurance Information Institute reports that in 2017, there were 2,750 deadly crashes as a result of vehicles. Several factors increase a motorist’s odds of being impacted by one of these accidents. For one, sports utility vehicles, trucks, and other vehicles that are located higher off the ground are at increased odds of tipping over. Another factor that increases the chances of rollovers is speeding, particularly when motorists are navigating sharp curves. Rollovers also most often result from single-vehicle crashes and are much less common in multiple-vehicle crashes. If a vehicle is struck side-on by a vehicle, the resulting force can sometimes roll the first vehicle over. Rollover accidents also most commonly occur when drivers lose control of their vehicle whether it’s due to driver fatigue, distractions, or any other factor that causes a vehicle to collide with something and be thrown off its center of gravity.
