shutterstock_561735016

Knox County, TN (September 24, 2020) Knoxville law enforcement reports that two accidents occurred on the morning of September 24th that resulted in traffic delays for motorists. One of these accidents occurred around 6 a.m. and involved a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 East at the Interstate 640 interchange. Due to the accidents, two lanes of Interstate 40 East were closed for more than an hour. Additionally, several lanes were closed on Alcoa Highway at the U.S. Marine Center after an accident around 8 a.m. that left traffic backed up even though one lane remained open. Additional details about the accident including what caused them and whether any injuries were incurred still remain uncertain.

From 2015 to 2019, Knox County ranked as the 3rd highest for fatalities caused by car accidents and the 10th highest overall for car crashes among all of Tennessee’s counties. There are many reasons why car crashes occur in Tennessee, but some of the most common factors include distracted, intoxicated, and reckless driving. When these accidents occur, there is a substantial risk of other motorists being seriously injured in car crashes. As a result, motorists traveling past car crashes must make sure to exercise the highest degree of caution possible.
