Several Injured On Interstate 40 Crash in Cumberland County

Cumberland County (September 27, 2020) A multiple vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 40 in Cumberland County on September 27th at the 324 mile marker and resulted in several injuries. Six vehicles were involved in the accident. The first vehicle was a tractor-trailer whose driver was charged with failure to exercise due care. Fortunately, all of the injuries incurred were non-life threatening.

All vehicles were traveling east on Interstate 40 in the left lane and approaching a construction site on a bridge. Vehicle # 4, vehicle # 5, and vehicle # 6 were stopped in the left lane due to traffic congestion. Vehicle # 2 and vehicle # 3 were slowing behind the other vehicles. Vehicle # 1 was unable to stop and as a result struck the rear end of vehicle # 2, which was then pushed into vehicle # 3. Vehicle # 3 was then pushed into vehicle # 4, which was then pushed into vehicle # 5. This resulted in vehicle # 5 being pushed into vehicle # 6.
