Fire Destroys Vehicle in Roane County

Roane County, TN (October 20, 2020) The Blair Volunteer Fire Department on the night of October 20th responded to a vehicle fire that occurred close to Highway 61 on Old Elverton Road. The vehicle was in flames by the time crews arrived at the scene. No one was around the vehicle, however, and the emergency workers believe that the vehicle was purposefully set on fire. As a result, the Tennessee Highway Patrol also investigated the scene. Additional details about the fire including whether anyone was injured, what happened to the vehicle’s owner, and what caused the fire still remain uncertain.

The US Fire Administration reports that from 2014 to 2016, approximately 171,5000 highway vehicle fires occurred in the United States, which resulted in an average of 345 deaths as well as 1,300 injuries and $1.1 billion in property damage.
