Deadly Crash Occurs on Highway 64

Franklin County, TN (February 18, 2021) The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that a woman was killed on the afternoon of February 18th following a two-car collision that occurred on Highway 64 close to the Grundy County line. Three children as well as a teenage boy and a man were injured in the accident. The woman who was killed in the accident was a passenger in a Toyota that was traveling north on Highway 64 shortly before 4:30 in the afternoon when another vehicle was pulling out from Providence Road after stopping at a stop sign. The other vehicle then crossed onto Highway 64, entered the lane the Toyota was traveling in, and the two vehicles collided.

The Insurance Information Institute reports that in 2018, there were 3,651 head-on collisions that resulted in fatalities. This represented 10.8% of fatal crashes. The most common type of collisions involving motor vehicles, however, involved vehicles that were traveling at angles. These types of collisions represented 17.9% of deadly crashes or 6,037 collisions.
