Crash Occurs in Roane County at Interstate 40 Marker

Accident2

Roane County, TN (February 11, 2021) An accident occurred on February 11th around 1 in the morning that left the eastbound right lane of mile marker 343 blocked. The left lane, however, has since been reopened and traffic is slow at the scene. Westbound traffic in the area was not impacted. Motorists are advised to exercise caution while passing through the area. Additional details about the crash are still under investigation.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security found in 2010 that 388 crashes occurred in Rhea County that resulted in 247 injuries. In 2020, this number increased to 618 accidents, which involved 488 crashes involving injuries.

While it’s impossible for Tennessee motorists to entirely avoid the dangers presented by all other motorists on the road, motorists can practice some safety strategies to greatly reduce the risk of accidents. One helpful tip that motorists can follow is to drive defensively, which means avoid placing a vehicle in situations where it is likely to end up in crashes with other cars on the road. Motorists should also avoid the number of distractions that they face while driving.
