Cookeville Crash Claims Life of Mother and 2 Children

Cookeville, TN (January 26, 2021) Three people were killed in a crash that occurred in Cookeville on the morning of January 26th. The accident occurred around 8 in the morning close to the intersection of Willow Avenue and Interstate Drive. Law enforcement at the scene confirmed that the pursuit of a vehicle approaching an intersection led to a truck t-boning a vehicle and killing a mother and her two children. Due to the crash, the road was temporarily closed. The road, however, seems to be open again and traffic is now moving in both directions.

T-bone accidents are sometimes referred to as sideswipe collisions. Based on data compiled by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, 909 sideswipe crashes in 2018 occurred in 2018. The agency also reports approximately 242,000 sideswipe crashes occur each year. These accidents result in approximately 27,000 injuries and more than 2,500 fatalities each year. Because the sides of vehicles lack the degree of protection for motorists found in the back and front of vehicles, the aftermath of these accidents is almost always devastating.
