Woman Injured After Car Rear-Ends Trailer on Dover Road

CarAccident4

Clarksville, TN (August 12, 2020) A car crashed into the back of a farm tractor that was pulling a trailer on Dover Road on the afternoon of August 12th. Based on a report provided by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a woman was driving a Toyota Corolla when she collided with the back of the trailer, which was being pulled by a John Deere tractor. The end of the trailer went through the Corolla’s windshield, resulting in injuries to the woman. Emergency workers had to perform an extraction to remove the victim from her vehicle.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that rear-end collisions are the most common type of accident and represent approximately 29% of all vehicle crashes.

Why Tractor Accidents Are Becoming More Common

Accidents involving motor vehicles and tractors are becoming a more common occurrence in the United States for several reasons, which include:

  • More people are moving to the country and commuting to work.
  • Two lane rural roads permit high-speed driving, but speeding creates a risk of deadly collisions when roads pass through farming communities.
  • Farmers often own or lease land not connected to their main farm and must drive farm equipment like John Deere tractors on public roads to reach the other land.
