Driver Killed in Crossville Crash that Occurs on Miller Bypass

Accident

Crossville, TN (February 24, 2021) Crossville law enforcement reports that a traffic accident occurred on Miller Bypass at 4 in the morning on the 24th. The accident was the apparent result of a suicide. The victim was driving a Nissan sedan north when he fatally shot himself. The man’s vehicle then crashed into a light pole that was close to the intersection of 10th street and came to a stop against a business sign. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A firearm was recovered from the vehicle and an investigation into exactly what transpired before the crash is still underway. Additional details will be released at a later date by the police department after the deceased man’s family is notified.

Due to the accident, the section of the bypass from Spart Drive to 10th Street was temporarily closed so an investigation of the crash could be performed. The section of road was opened around 9 in the morning. The Crossville Police Department responded to the accident as did the Crossville Fire Department, Crossville Street Department, Cumberland County emergency medical workers, and Cumberland County 911.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found that approximately 90 people die each day from motor vehicle crashes.
