Pedestrian Placed in Critical Condition After Kingsport Car Crash

Kingsport, TN (September 15, 2020) A female pedestrian was placed in critical condition on September 15th following a crashon Kingsport’s Fairview Avenue. A report provided by the Kingsport Police Department states that the accident occurred around 8:20 p.m. in the 1500 block when a Chevrolet Tahoe was headed south and two pedestrians walked the road in front of the vehicle. One of the pedestrians was then struck by the Tahoe and later transported to a nearby medical facility by emergency medical workers. The pedestrian is reported to have experienced life-threatening injuries and as a result was placed in critical condition. Additional details about the accident are still under investigation.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found that in 2017 approximately 137,000 pedestrians received medical treatment in emergency departments for nondeadly crash-related injuries. Some of the most common injuries known to happen when pedestrians are hit by cars include jaw fractures, lacerations, neck injuries, shoulder displacement, skull damage, and vertebrae injuries.
