Nashville TN (July 14, 2020) At least one person died after a serious car crash that occurred on Interstate 65 early in the morning of July 14. As a result of the accident, crews temporarily blocked two lanes of traffic. The scene has since been cleared.

The Deadliest Types of Tennessee Car Accidents

There are several types of accidents in Tennessee that are well known for their dangerous nature. Victims involved in these accidents often experience life-changing injuries. Fatalities are also a common result of these accidents, which include:

  • Head-on collisions. These collisions occur when a vehicle collides with the front of another vehicle that is headed in the opposite direction. The greater the speed of the involved vehicles, the more likely the collision will be deadly. The Insurance Information Institute reports that nationwide there were 3,471 head-on collisions resulting in deaths in 2017.
  • Many car accidents involve only one other vehicle, but when there are multiple vehicles involved, the chances of chain reaction collisions and substantial damage is significant. These accidents also have a high risk of vehicle explosions and fires.
  • Many factors can lead to vehicle rollovers including the angle of the impact, vehicles that turn too sharply, and drivers who lose control of their vehicle.
  • T-bone car accidents. When one vehicle collides with the side of another vehicle, t-bone collisions occur. These accidents are often deadly because the sides of vehicles do not have as much protection as the front or rear.
