Multiple Vehicle Crash in Sullivan County Blocks Road

Sullivan County, TN (January 26, 2021) A crash occurred in Sullivan County on the morning of January 26th and consequently blocked all northbound lanes on Interstate 81. More specifically, The Tennessee Department of Transportation reported the crash occurred at mile marker 67 around 7 in the morning. While the crash was cleared by 8:30 in the morning, traffic congestion continued in the area. Additional details about the crash including what caused it are still under investigation.

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security found in 2010 that 3,925 car crashes occurred in Sullivan County resulting in 27 fatalities and 1,132 injuries. A decade later, the agency found that in 2020, there were 3,690 accidents that occurred in Sullivan County resulting in 778 injuries and 20 fatalities.
