Multiple Vehicle Accident Occurs in Fentress County
Fentress County, TN (September 23, 2020) The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that a multiple vehicle accident occurred September 23rd on Highway 52 in Fentress County. The accident occurred when a Subaru Outback was traveling west when its driver turned into the path of an oncoming motorcycle. A second motorcycle rider was also injured. While the Subaru’s driver was not harmed, both motorcyclists sustained injuries. Additional details about the accident including what caused it and the extent of the injuries still remains uncertain.
The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security reports that in 2019, there were 152 fatalities due to motorcycle accidents in Tennessee. This number marks a substantial rise from a decade earlier when Tennessee saw 122 fatalities caused by motorcycle accidents. Among the 152 fatalities, 130 riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, 14 people were not wearing helmets, and the status of 8 riders and motorcycle helmets is uncertain. An even larger number of motorcyclists was seriously injured in 2019 as a result of motorcycle accidents.
