Man Dies in Single Vehicle Jefferson County Crash

Jefferson County, TN (January 19, 2021) The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports that a man from Cocke County died on January 19th in a single vehicle crash that occurred in Jefferson County. Law enforcement states that the accident occurred around 2:00 in the afternoon in the 1900 block of East Highway 25 / 70 at Lakeside Living Boat RV and Toy Storage and Lakeside Clearing and Excavation. The motorist was traveling east in a Ford F350 pickup truck when his vehicle left the road on the left side and collided with a chain-link fence. The vehicle then passed through the front parking lot area and struck a side fence on the same property. The vehicle then traveled a short distance into an empty field and came to a stop. An investigation into the accident is still pending and it remains uncertain what caused the F350 to leave the road.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that 53 percent of the motor vehicle crash fatalities in 2018 occurred in single vehicle accidents. While some of these accidents were the driver’s fault, not all of them were.
