Driver Killed Following Lenoir City Crash

shutterstock_1132634303

Lenoir City, TN (March 26, 2021) The Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Loudon County Sheriff’s office report that Lakeland Drive in Lenoir City was temporarily shut down on March 26th due to a deadly crash.

The driver in the crash was traveling southbound on Lakeland Drive when his vehicle ran off the right side of the road and hit a wooden post. The vehicle then went down an embankment and collided with a tree. Additional details about the crash including what caused it are still under investigation.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has found that trees are the most commonly struck object. Forty-eight percent of fatalities in fixed object crashes in 2019 involved vehicles striking trees. Utility poles and traffic barriers were the second most commonly struck stationary objects.

While some people believe that single vehicle crashes are always the result of the driver, in reality these accidents can be caused by various other parties. Some of the most common reasons why single vehicle accidents occur include poorly maintained highways, drivers who hit and run, and mechanics and motor vehicle workers who perform inadequate repairs or maintenance of vehicles.
